What is Chronic Fatique Syndrome?

Chronic fatigue syndrome, or CFS, is a debilitating and complex disorder characterized by profound fatigue that is not improved by bed rest and that may be worsened by physical or mental activity. Persons with CFS most often function at a substantially lower level of activity than they were capable of before the onset of illness. In addition to these key defining characteristics, patients report various nonspecific symptoms, including weakness, muscle pain, impaired memory and/or mental concentration, insomnia, and post-exertional fatigue lasting more than 24 hours. In some cases, CFS can persist for years. The cause or causes of CFS have not been identified and no specific diagnostic tests are available. Moreover, since many illnesses have incapacitating fatigue as a symptom, care must be taken to exclude other known and often treatable conditions before a diagnosis of CFS is made.

What Is Fibromyalgia?
Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and multiple tender points. "Tender points" refers to tenderness that occurs in precise, localized areas, particularly in the neck, spine, shoulders, and hips. People with this syndrome may also experience sleep disturbances, morning stiffness, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, and other symptoms.

Previously, the condition was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias.

LYME Disease

Lyme disease is caused by a spirochete bacteria Borelia burgdorfei, in its acute form 39% of patients develop a rash at the site of the tick bite. In a chronic form of the disease fatigue and pain can be persistant. It is claimed by certain physicians that it is easily treated with antibiotics, doxycyclin and rocephin. In essence certain cases are resistant and symptoms persist. We believe that in face of a weakened immune system the Borelia enter a tissue phase and may become more difficult to eradcate. Immune adjuvantmay assist antibiotic therapy. NEW developments We have using an electrolyte mixture LECTROLYTE which acts on the blood and interstitail fluid It is claimed that added vigor is given to the muscles. A number of patients have found it useful
We are testing Cardiac Output (CO) and Ventricular stroke volume (SV) on our CFS patients with a new machine The Impedance Cardiograph. We determine the change in cardiac output in lying, sitting, and standing A more instructive "tilt table" approach . This procedure is especially helpful in showing abnormality in disability cases
Expert Witness
Dr Enlander has sucessfully appeared in court against insurance and disability companies on behalf of patients who suffer from ME /CFS and Fibromyalgia. He has countered certain doctors who denied proper treatment.
